Kroger isn’t just a grocery store anymore. It’s a surveillance company that happens to sell food. To all of us.
Kroger puts enormous effort into tracking as much as it can about you and makes millions using and selling your data.
Investigations have uncovered Kroger builds “secret shopper profiles” about its loyalty members, estimating things about your family and even your income.
Kroger’s privacy policy describes tracking your purchasing history, family information, facial recognition, and online activity down to the keystroke.
For example:
1. Kroger builds a detailed "secret profile" on its loyalty shoppers, including an estimate of your income, your purchase history, and inferences about your family.
2. Kroger’s privacy policy states it collects facial recognition data. Lawmakers say collected footage could be used to overcharge us based on what we look like and how we shop.
Kroger needs to promise it won’t. We need to call out Kroger for this shady surveillance. Are you even aware?krogerhurtsfamilies</p>— Buzz Patterson (BuzzPatterson) October 14, 2026
