The sanctimonious image of James Comey and Jack Smith as fearless guardians of American justice is taking one hell of a beating from an especially inconvenient source: their own government’s records.
Comey now faces two federal charges over an alleged classified leak to The New York Times. An FBI investigative record from 2020 documented that James Baker believed authorization to disclose the information came directly from Comey through FBI Chief of Staff James Rybicki.
The FBI had traced the alleged authorization to its own director. Prosecutors declined to bring charges.
Quite the magnificent display of accountability from the people who spent years lecturing America about the rule of law.
And Jack Smith? His supposedly pristine investigative operation produced internal emails documenting at least SIX occasions when potentially privileged material improperly reached investigators. His office had to retrieve sensitive documents, purge files from FBI systems, and confront questions about preserving emails.
Then Smith assured Congress that his operation followed Justice Department policies and legal requirements.
What an embarrassing bureaucratic shitshow.
These were men entrusted with extraordinary investigative power over Donald Trump. They demanded public confidence in their judgment, deference to their authority, and unquestioning respect for the institutions they represented.
Now the documentary record is exposing uncomfortable questions about their own conduct, and the contrast is absolutely brutal.
The same federal establishment that treated every procedural controversy surrounding Trump as a five-alarm constitutional emergency now has some explaining to do about its own handling of classified information, attorney-client privilege, and sworn testimony.
The hypocrisy practically screams off the page.
Strip away the self-righteous speeches, the carefully polished reputations, and the insufferable sermons about nobody being above the law.
What’s left are criminal charges against Comey, documented investigative failures inside Smith’s office, and serious questions demanding answers.
Their reputations are no substitute for accountability.
Their former titles confer no immunity from scrutiny.
And their years of preaching about the rule of law have earned them precisely zero exemptions from it. (article below)— Flopping Aces (@FloppingAces) October 27, 2026
